Why Is Vetting Required for TAG Membership?
At TAG, community safety, consent, respect, and discretion are not optional—they are the foundation of everything we do. That is why everyone interested in becoming a TAG member is required to complete our vetting process.

Vetting is an opportunity for you to connect with TAG staff before entering our community. It gives us the chance to learn a little about you, answer your questions, explain what TAG is—and just as importantly, give you a clear understanding of what TAG is not. We want you to feel comfortable, informed, and confident about the community you are choosing to join.
​
Our goal is simple: to make sure TAG is right for you, and that you are right for TAG. Not everyone is looking for the same type of community, and that's okay. We would rather have an honest conversation beforehand than have someone arrive at an event and discover that TAG isn't what they expected.
​
Because TAG is a consent-driven community, we place a strong emphasis on communication, personal boundaries, mutual respect, and the right to say no. Members are expected to respect the boundaries of others, practice discretion, and contribute to an environment where people can explore, socialize, learn, and connect without fear of judgment, harassment, or having their privacy compromised.
​
Vetting also gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have before you enter the venue. Whether you're new to the lifestyle, returning after some time away, or simply want to understand how TAG operates, our staff is here to help you understand the expectations, etiquette, and opportunities available to TAG members.

What Happens After You're Approved?
​
Once you have completed vetting and are approved for membership, your next step is New Member Immersion.
​
New Member Immersion is designed to help you feel comfortable before attending your first party. Whenever scheduling allows, we will arrange for you to tour TAG and the venue, become familiar with the spaces, learn how things work, and have an opportunity to ask any remaining questions.
​
Our hope is to complete your Immersion before your first party whenever schedules align, so that when you walk through the doors for the first time, you already know where you're going, what to expect, and who you can turn to if you need assistance.

We believe the strongest communities are built when everyone entering the space understands the culture, respects the boundaries of others, and feels confident that they belong there.

A New Chapter for TAG
TAG is entering an exciting new chapter!
After nearly a decade of building community, education, connection, and trust, TAG has been given the opportunity to host BDSM-focused programming at the Alternative Desires venue in Rochester. This new format allows TAG to expand what we can offer our members while continuing to maintain the identity, values, and community that make TAG unique.

Who Is Alternative Desires?
Alternative Desires (AD) is an established adult lifestyle community here in Rochester, bringing years of experience creating opportunities for adults to connect, socialize, and explore the lifestyle in a welcoming environment.
Now, TAG and Alternative Desires will operate under one roof, creating more opportunities for members of both communities to connect while allowing each organization to continue offering its own programming and community experience.

What Does This Mean for TAG?
Established in 2016, TAG has over 10 years of experience building a well-known and trusted community in Rochester and beyond. This new opportunity allows us to build on that foundation and provide expanded programming and more opportunities for our members.

TAG will be hosting BDSM-focused parties and programming within the Alternative Desires venue. TAG will have its own dedicated BDSM Dungeon space that will be open to ALL members.
Bringing these communities together under one roof creates opportunities for more connection, more programming, education, social events, and opportunities to participate in different aspects of the lifestyle community.
